A new poll shows that estate agents are more hated than ever. Do they deserve this accolade? Are they a necessary evil or just plain evil? Would you name another profession as more worthy of general hatred? Share your thoughts...
I'VE GOT A SEMI
estate agents are great at bolstering our confidence in the housing market, but when a property isn't selling and they suggest reducing the asking price shouldn't they be taking a serious look at their practices? Anyone can sell a house a house if the price is reasonable.
'Build more houses' shouts the government - but who can afford them? And why can no-one afford them, because this unregulated bunch of scrotes have, by stealth, cranked up the prices of property for no other reason than their own greed. I wouldn't want them to starve, mind you - Well, not ching! The real culprits - a cowardly series of governments that don't want to do anything that might upset the smooth flow of the gravy train and its passengers!
Estate Agents are salesmen...their raison d'etre is to make profit....in so doing they play on peoples' emotions to crank up prices to the max. Surely a case for DIY property deals!
The immature young mavericks here have a habit of putting an inflated value on properties because it's of benefit to them for the commission in a sale (of course). And no one is going to dispute their valuation even if privately they doubt it. Folk merrily go along with it and fingers crossed; some are lucky and others not. So, woe betide you if your house is still on their books more than 6 months later. The phone calls start coming prompting you to have a re-think on the asking price and if you prevaricate, veiled threats are issued that they will no longer be in a position to represent you if you do not drop 'your' price. You are told you are taking up valuable advertising space and it doesn't look good on them to have a property hanging around their books for too long so you had better comply or else! Who the hell put the value on the property in the first place?
