The big six energy companies paid out 19% more to their shareholders last year, despite prices rises across the board. As winter approaches, are the energy companies leaving their customers out in the cold?
Watched it Billy - The guy is speaking the truth but it falls upon deaf ears I'm afraid as we live in a greedy selfish I'm alright Jack country created by Thatcher.
Brenda if your heaters only come on at night then the lampost solution is an ideal solution Hic (Tongue in cheek). The amperage feeding the local lampost is minicule and would not suffice to power a storage heater let alone run a 60 amp cooker (most lcb's are fed by 100 amp fuses) the sub station would probably trip out if a great enough load were placed upon it.... then all the street lights would go out Ha Ha....
Yes ? from ? I know quite well what ignoramous means (there isnt such a word really in English grammar - but I understand the statement) its actually ignorant or ignorance. a more approriate word could have been illiterate of which I am far from.
Yes Maisie just a wind up, I have never understood the logic behind the thought that anyone living off the state has to pay for anything? Although I was a firm believer at one time in a social state - those of us who work look after the less fortunate ( being those unable to work through no fault of their own, or through circumstances of equal value) but there are far too many on the bandwagon nowadays and far too much taxes wasted and directed from the needy to the drunks, slappers, and generally bone idle.
How do you think it feels to have spent 21 years on a coal face and now taking a wagon each night for a 560km ride for 265 quid a week. Out of that it costs 200 quid for living food-rent etc then 92 quid a month on rates - 25 quid a week on petrol to get work - 31 quid a month for electric - then theres gas - oh and road tax of 210 pa and MOT's. I have to work 4 weekends out of every 6 -thats Saturday and Sunday just to break even.
I PAY the gas-electricity - food - designer clothes - cars - free hols - out of my hard earned wages (called stoppages) and deprived family life....
If someone has to pay gas -lec out of DSS money then tough luck as the truth of the matter there are thousands who are paying out for these commodities from monies they aint earned anyway - the worker pays and gets zero help from anyone - we are ALL TAXED as single men whether we have wives to fend for or not.....
The needy of the uk would be suffering far less if half of these 12 pound a day drunkard allowances and 750 quid for every illegitate kid to slappers were handed out (the kids are just a free meal ticket to most of them).
I lost my virginity to New Labour - Now I really know what it feels like to be SCREWED......
Labour is the party for fools - but there is no alternative as of yet unfortunately.... I could go on about the NHS sponsoring boob jobs and penis removal - whilst your family members die because of lack of funding for life saving drugs... but I wont......
when the price of oil went up,so did the price of gas and electric. so why, if the price of oil as come down why as gas and electric not come down?
AJH from London, I feel now that I do not have a mental health issue with paranoia! Thankyou. Makes you think doesn't it?
Pip from Kent
I have just left British gas (thats a laugh there foriegn owened now) and EDF (they are foriegn owned too) for Scottish power, dual fuel internet account and direct debit. British gas phoned me a lot too. My late father had the Homecare package, every time they came they said the boiler needed replacing, I then repaired it for him, the parts never costed more than £10.00 that was 15 years ago, the boiler is still going.
I think there is some corruption going on. Recently we changed our energy provider so both electricity and gas are provided by the same company and are paying by direct debit each month. Since then we have received numerous phone calls from British Gas, our former gas provider, trying to offer us a better package. We have resisted temptation to change again. We have though continued with our British Gas Homecare package, this provides a yearly service of our boiler and free repair of the boiler and various other breakdowns.
This week we had our boiler serviced, two British Gas personnel arrived, this has never happened before. one clearly present to do the dirty work and another dressed quite smartly who appeared to be observing. Seemingly quite innocent.
Later that day we noticed how hot the water was, the temperature settings had been changed on the hot water tank (higher than we had set) and the boiler temerature had been changed from low to high. At this point paranoia set in and we had convinced ourselves that these changes would increase our fuel bills, perhaps this was an underhand attempt at getting us to change back to British Gas. Anyone else experienced this?
