UK employees work longer hours than the rest of Europe and get less bank holidays. Do we place too much importance in our careers in this country and all end up stressed as a result? Do you feel pressured to work too hard? Share your thoughts.
Given that so much of the revenue generated by the British workforce is squandered,It is just as well we work too hard and have so many immigrants contributing seeing as so many British men and women are sitting on their asses cheating the system, I guess we are all just too busy to do anything about it!
Well put, Bob from Bobbingdon!
Our European counterparts are doing far less hours and enjoy the benefits of relaxing and getting to know their families 'off piste' as opposed to the British worker, whom not only works longer hours, but has to travel and deal with gridlocks, train delays, poor transport, bad weather and general congestion because everyone is expected to access their work at 9.00am-5-6pm+ everyday!
Then we have to endure SAD syndrome on top of this, where we are deprived of fresh air and sunshine in favour of striking keys all day and staring at glaring screens with countless commands being sent to respond to, that throw up even more work, in between telephone calls, texts etc. Ugh!!!!
Before we know it, our children and grandchildren are grown up and we end up being washed out and lose the will to live, die without getting the pension we paid into all our lives!
Cynical, moi?
what a stupid question, isn't it obvious
yes and not enough pay. we are the only country being slave driven people, i want siestas and time to eat and see my wife and kids, not just work sleep and well work.
I think I might be spending too much time on the computer
