Is Britain Europe’s job stress capital?

Is Britain Europe’s job stress capital?

UK employees work longer hours than the rest of Europe and get less bank holidays. Do we place too much importance in our careers in this country and all end up stressed as a result? Do you feel pressured to work too hard? Share your thoughts.

yes....I am good at what I do so i am badgered into working more and being more involved . I have learnt to say no and interestingly enough my tax is less. it taked practise switching off and actaully doing less, chilling out and enjoying...believe it or not. We do pay more for everything in this country directly and indirectly so that aspect is unfair ...so its up to you guys and girls...It also drove me into starting a business where I earn three times as much and yup...it is enjoyable the money and the business...

job market can swallow you like a whale and never spit you out it's either all work and no play or no work and all play, some of the things you can buy is just silly who wants a twinkly LED snowflake, I'm not working to produce that kind of junk and I can't afford to waste money on crap either and exaclty, why should I work to fulfil the every desire of the crazed consumer woman type only for her to up sticks and shack up with someone else.

standards, I say, standards. What's holidays got to do with it?

Wouldn't need a holiday if you didn't have to work so hard most of the year, where's the enjoyment of life? Why work for some scuzzbag executive whose going to take all the money and pay a pittance?

I'll be happy working for myself and dictating my own hours, why, because I can and why because if I don't someone else is going to rip me off. that's life.

my son had a wife who wanted the best of everything. he worked all hours to pay for it as she wouldn`t work herself. then she moaned he was either working or too tired to take her out places. she left my son and now lives with an unemployed bloke who has no intention of looking for work. she loves it that he is home all day with her.and they seem to be thriving on benefits.

'We pay far more in tax and indirect tax than any other european country.'

Can you actually prove this or is it another 'man in the pub' statistic. I've spent some time looking at tax levels across the EU and can't find any evidence at all that taxation in the uk is generally higher overall than elsewhere ... indeed much of it points to it being lower such as VAT being charged on everything in France including foods.
