Long-term unemployed people will be forced to accept work placements or lose their benefits, the government has warned. Is this unfair on those who have genuine trouble finding work, or do you think it is necessary to stop work-shy layabouts from sponging off the state?
The swear word the guy used is being deliberately deleted from the last messages I have sent.
He said, "It's owning your own property isn't it?"
It would be nice because it might mean that me and my husband + others who do work, won't have to pay as much tax to help support them. We've got our own home and have to pay for our own guttering, kitchen, double glazing, roofing etc... and yet we are having to pay for the rennovation of council houses, some of which are for the unemployed. They are getting new double glazing, roof tiles, gutering, doors, kitchens, bedroom and bathrooms. I wouldn't see them on the streets...I've seen too much homelessness already....but it would ease the pressure on us in the lower wage bracket...Yes, we all have to pay tax whatever wage we are on. one unemployed guy turned on me when I had a go at him for using my garden as a short -cut and said, "It's owing your own property isn't it?" I replied that because of ignorant buggers like him yes it is and it shouldn't be like that any more. Did he give a stuff at how threatened I felt by his attitude? Did he hell!

Should long-term unemployed be forced to work?
