How much would a housewife earn?

With the average housewive spending 8.8 doing the chores, it will come as no surprise that 71 per cent of women polled say that the successful running of the family home is a full time job. 66 per cent of women feeling that their efforts go unappreciated by partners and children, especially as their equivalent weekly wage would come to £572.53

Carolyn Morris, spokeswoman for www.alljoinon.com said: 'This survey clearly demonstrates that not only do housewives deserve a wage for their efforts, they also need a break from the daily grind.'

This is all based upon faulty logic. The salaries referred to are for trained professional, many with certifications or advanced degrees. Let's just go ahead and say housework is worth 30K a year. Since the cost would be split evenly between husband and wife, the wife would only get 15K for her doing his half share of the work. The one nice thing about having professionals doing the work for a housewife and getting rid of your wife is that the work would be done correctly, efficiently and without the grief we husbands have to contend with. Wow... that's not a bad idea. Oh, one more thing, there wouldn't be the cost of divorce and alimony.

the whole point of this is flawed. you get paid at work to compensate for giving up your time to service others. people looking after their home, their own children, or their own households finances arent doing this, theyre just doing all the little things everyone has to do that life requires. yes its not an easy lifestyle, but to argue that theyre effectively earning close to £600 a week and not getting paid is absurd.

i think it would be great if housewives were paid its even more challenging during the holidays trying to balance keeping house clean and enertaining the kids thats a real juggleri als agree that husband and kids do need to show us more respect and appreciation as we are taken for granted

My wife and I both work full time, it was great to see when jobs were broken down that I'm worth so much more than her. It would be nice to see a break down of all the husband jobs to add more value to my score. How much for a sympathetic listener!
