Should you have a job to get a council house?

Should you have a job to get a council house?

Britons in social housing who aren’t working or actively seeking employment should be kicked out, according to new housing minister Caroline Flint. Do you agree?

all i say is dont take the judging seat so soon. i dont live in council state but i think some nasty people give people that do a hard time. but there should be a ponit at which if people don't have a job because they haven't made enough of an effort; they should face the consecuences.

I do agree, Have never heard such a stupid comment. I live in a council estate, I worked till I was seventy, because I loved working. There are three people not working on this estate, they pay rent, about fifty ponds a week, and we rarely have any trouble.. surely there cannot be many idiots asking quistions like that...

As the Minister involved is likely to be unemployed soon, it would be unkind to force her to lose her home just because she is incapable of doing another job.
It's just the usual idea that woolly-headed politicians come up with when they're about to lose their jobs.
It would be nice to meet her in the dole office being told "she had left her previous employment without due cause and would have to wait 8 weeks before her application for assistance could be considered".

What gets me is that all these people saying about council tenants all be lazy, Most of the people on here leaving negitive posts probally have forgotton that there parents or grand parents Have at one point been a council tenant. So does that make your parents or grandparents Lazy. And should they have been kicked out of there house when times get hard. And the parents or grandparents had the right to buy which they do not do now. And you could buy the house for penuts, SO WHO IS THE SCRonGERS ?????. Social housing is not as cheap as people think. And the majority say if you loose your job so you should get kicked out, These people really need to get a life, and think if they come down with cancer and could'nt work then does that mean you should not get nhs care. or you cant have a house because you dont work. THINK BEFORE YOU HAVE A GO ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE. YOU WILL NEED HELP AT onE POINT IN YOUR LIFE >
