Rag rolling, stencilling and sponge finish paint effects, made popular on shows such as Changing Rooms in the nineties, topped the list of modern bad design. Time to get the paintbrush out again…
I hate these so called experts who tell us what we should like or dislike. We get them everywhere. They're on the X Factor, Strictly Dancing,Master Chef, in fact anywhere where they can make money by being clever dicks. Like everything else, decoration is down to the individual. Do it your way. If you like it, the opinion of a dozen experts doesn't count for a toss. You have to live with it, not them.
Sick of TV shows telling us that we should decorate to sell and remove all of our personality from our houses. If people don't like it when they visit, tough, it's your home and should reflect your own personality. Lets hear it for individuality and praise the individual.
The one that annoys me most is when they slag off Artex - and the "viewers" go along with them agreeing how nasty it is!!!!
The thing is, most homes have it - and its bloody messy and expensive to get rid of!!! It annoys me when they say " oh it's easy to just skim over all that nasty Artex" ........It's not easy , its bloody messy and it's not that bad anyway - if it's been done well that is!!!!!!
I'd be interested to know who makes these very vague judgments about taste.
stick to plane and basic. The today trend is always at the front of the shop or in the window
