From baking soda to white vinegar, grandma's tried and test cleaning remedies have stood the test of time. What are the old-fashioned cleaning tips that work in your house? Tell us now.
To clean baking trays or cake tins , scrunch a ball of tin foil add soapy water rub the baked on dirt ,then wash as normal , it works ,got the tip from my 10 year old grandaughter ,who is a fan of how clean is your house
I keep my teabags handy for wiping spills on the cooker, inside and out for immediate use, or for anywhere really - sort of disposal rag - and it saves dirtying anything else. Can still go on the compost.
Here are a few more tricks from my gran
one teaspoon of borax and a handful of lux flakes mixed with a little water to wash hair if used lots of hairspray will get rid of the excess buildup left by shampoo, but only do this once a month
A piece of walnut rubbed over a scratch in poished wood will remove the white wood underneath until it can be properly treated
.....and my favourite, milk over beetroot stain on a tablecloth will enable it to be washed out - however as a small child at a childrens party my friend's mother did not appreciate me emptying a whole jug over the tablecloth in front of all the guests!!!!
It's good to know about natural cleaners- environmentally friendly and a lot cheaper than all those products constantly peddled on television!
