Do you know what your kids are up to online?

Do you know what your kids are up to online?

A new NSPCC report suggests that over 50% of children have had an "unwanted experience" online. The increase of social networking sites where young people spend increasing amounts of time chatting, appears to open them up to cyber-bullying, grooming, and exposure to unsuitable material.

But what can be done to prevent this? Should parents be more careful about what their kids are up to online? Or should young people be given their privacy? Have your say.

me? GCSE bitesize revision and occasionally chatting to people on msn, *think ive been on it twice in the past 3 months?* My mom and dad certainly know what i get up to on my pc as they have installed a program which sends them a list of what ive been on once ive logged out or turned off my pc.
But there are some really nasty things on the internet. take youtubes dancing homeless video for example. or clips out of horror movies such as SAW or HOSTEL. even scarier is the real horror "L0OL4GE T0TAL R4P3G3 OF 14 YR OLD ***** INIT PMSL!!" on youtube which i was sent a link to by someone who had sent it to my msn account.
parents dont totally freak out as there are plenty of good parental control devices and things like i found in my inbox could be avoided by changing settings of your inbox to send that to junk or just delete it.

I know exactly what my 8 year old looks at online (Barbie, Bratz and Scooby Doo) but do you know what your husband gets up to online? have just found out mine has been looking at porn and visiting dating sites! I am currently pregnant and getting a bit porky, but still, it's no excuse. Oh, well. xx

Please, you don't have to stand over you kids on the computor, just check history, cookies, etc. you can get onto no problem. you shouldn't be reading all the info but scan for something which may cause concern. remember, young people can exagerate what they actually get up to to impress or try fit in. so don't get to pissed off if you see something you to.
