Husband came home on leave, but had to go all the way down South after a few days. on the morning he travelled he said "Just you wait...I'll get all the way down there and baby will decide to arrive!!" Guess who was correct and wished he hadn't said anything. He had to drive all the way back up North to me after a full day's travel the day before. He was escorted by two police cars that could outmatch his little Fiat Panda in any race. He took me to the hospital only to have someone snatch his parking spot before he had a chance to get in. They have automatic double doors to the foyer of the hospital and as he was driving towards them to find somewhere to park I could see him sizing up the Panda next to the doors to see if he could fit the car into the foyer. There was nowhere else to park. I had to order him to park on the roadside outside the foyer and let someone know what was happening. To his immense relief he was told he could leave the car where it was and was given a note to put on the windscreen. He never let me forget that if baby had left it for another two days before arrival he could have had a helicopter ride up. I told him baby was typically awkward, just like him. on his return journey down South, the evening baby was born, the alternator on the Panda blew up!!

not really a funny story, but just a story to say that the doctors don't always know best. baby number 4 was a c-section and was determined this time not to repeat it. went in for a scan and baby not in a good position so was told that i would have to have a section in the morning, very unhappy at this as had been told would be givena bit more time. i asked that if baby turned by the morning could i have a normal delivery and was told very unlikely that it would happen. morning came and baby had turned, different doctor agreed to start me. everything ok for a bit and then they gave me too much hormone and heart beat dropped a little, doctor( first one again) came and said had to have section, told him to get lost, he said to many risk factors, midwife agreed with me and we changed positions to get heart rate better. it worked. rest of labour no probs and second stage of labour lasted 4 mins, with healthy baby at the end of it. and no c-section, doctor came back in the morning and said he was very surprised that everything went ok, but happy for me. i think that doctors are too quick to go for the cutting route, they should let the midwives do their jobs, no midwife is going to put a baby at risk.
