Should women breastfeed in public?

Do you feel comfortable breastfeeding in public? Have you had any negative or positive experiences? Is there a way of making mums feel more relaxed about feeding their child?

I am a genuine red blooded male and will gladly look at page 3 lovelies but there is nothing sexual about breast feeding, it's a wonderful sight and I cannot see how anyone can object to seeing another human feeding. Watching some adults feeding can be more stomach churning!

    No.
Don't see the need to trail infants and young children round public places, wait until they're old enough.

If all women were discreet it wouldn't be so bad, but they are not. About a month ago I was waiting in the doctor's surgery for my appointment, when a woman decided to breastfeed her child and literally everything was in full view, there was a man sitting next to her and she did not care at all. It was awful and did not show her in a good light at all. She had plenty of items with her that she could have used to partially cover herself up but she didn't. I was horrified and I also felt embarrassed. It was very insensitive of her. There were quite a few other men in the surgery and they clearly also felt uncomfortable by it. I think if there are the appropriate facilities for women to use then they should use them and not subject other people to something which should be private between themselves and their baby.
