one of my nephews who is now grown up was asked at school when he was about 10 years old," Who is your favourite pop star ", needless to say he was heavily influenced by his grandad's choice of music at the time and stood up in class and replied, " Al Jolson Miss ".

This always makes us laugh when we tell it to anyone. I have two grown up daughters each with their own family now. Their names are Rowena and Barbara. When they were little we always called them Nina and Barbie. At the time Nina was coming up to 5 and Barbie was coming up to 3 years old. We went to the infants school at St.Andrews and the headmistress asked us the name of the daughter who would be going to her school. We of course said Rowena. When we got outside and probably after much thinking Barbie turned to us and said, " When I go to school, will they call me Robarbie"??

When my son was little, he used to love playing with toy cars, especially racing cars. He always used to call them ra-cars. I'll never forget the look of disgust on a ladies face as I pushed him round ELC in his push chair, he was getting very excited and shouting out ra-car ra-car (the lady thought he was shouting w****r) I don't know if she believed me when I explained that it was racing car.
