LOL And all schooled children are angels are they?!!Oh Purlease!
It's unfortunate that too few officials who have a role that brings them into contact with home educators, have taken the initiative to find out anything about it.
Surely, if you're a care worker, your remit will bring you into contact with kids who already have other issues? Perhaps their history is one of neglect by the authority within a school system, perhaps bullying? Why would they trust you, yet another authority? You have no idea what the motive behind every families choice to home educate is, and yet you happily generalise and make sweeping statements that dimiss the option for all. Is it too much to expect that those with a role receive proper training before spouting their own antipathetic bias on the subject. Home EDUCATIon is a valid and productive option, the socialisation question is a total myth. Do your research!

I home-schooled my son for three years when he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 9. I did not want to send him to school as I feared they would not take adequate care of him. It was very enjoyable for both of us. America there are more opportunities for average parents to home-school. We were in a program through the internet, had a teacher to guide us, curriculum, and all the books, equiptment for science, notebooks, pencils, etc. at NO cost to us. At age 13 he decided to go back to regular school and now gets straight A's. If parents are in a situation where they can do it, I highly recommend it.

Kay from Surrey, your an idio.
I am home schooled, and I have friends my own age, and I found I have MORE respect for adults than any other kid I know. I’m certainly NOT rude to anyone so imo them home schooled kids you have met are the exception not the rule. If you were to get you head out of your arse you would see that most kids in schools are worst off; a friend of mine a few months back was thrown through a glass window just because “they though it was funny.”
Even though I’m mature for my age, many of my home-schooled friends are better off as they are. They can think for themselves rather than sponge off the smart kid in the class.

Ps. I have respect for those I like, and you are not one of them.
