i home educate all 5 of my kids.since coming out of school they are now reading and spelling quite well.which two of them were quite behind with in school(one was primary one was secondary)we do all the usual subjects they love history and science we do lots of experiments.they are much more confident and are not being bullied anymore and with the schools refusing to do something about it...my kids have socilalising with friends and adults in and out of the area.
most people dont know enough about home ed so dont understand what really goes on.i know there are kids out there who dont get an education of any kind and there are also some great home educators that are dong are a fantisitic job.i chose to do this as my eldest was constantly bullied and the school did nothing he had very low confidence and was depressed. now he is confident and happy and getting the attention he needs with schooling that he didnt get in school.one of my primary kids couldnt read and write she is now reading and can now write simple sentances.we have lea checks to make sure education is taking place.. kids are not missing out on education or socalising.i think there should be more information on home education as i think a lot of parents dont know how it works.it does take a lot of time but for me its worth it every parent is different and its your choice how you educate your children home or school...

Surely children educated at home are missing out on friendships, companionship, interaction with other children etc. As an oldie, we used to love playground games, chatting with our friends etc in break time. I am not saying the actual education would be inferior, but there is far more variety in going to school, and dare I say it, most of the 'educated at home' children turn out to be /Hooray Henry' types. I can see parents points of view because a lot of schools these days seem to have lackadaisical teaching standards, teachers who don't give a monkeys about the actual children they are supposed to be teaching and there is the instances of bullying, but if that were MY worry, and if I had school age children now, I would hunt around for a school with an excellent reputation or else, if I had enough money, pay for what I considered a decent education, but its wrong to isolate children from their peers.

No i dont.Kids need to go to school to learn social and personal skills, and bond friendships. Also for variety.I would have hated being taught at home.
