It's becoming more and more common for children to have body piercings - from ears to bellybuttons.
Have you let your child have any part of their body pierced? How young is too young for children to have "body art"?

I wud let ma kid have their ear/s pierced wen they were at least 5 ish but thats as far as i would go. Iam only 14 atm i have 2 ear piercings and thts it.... although i have two plugs in both ears as they are both stretched but i would not let my kids have that at my age......i my left ear i am stretchin it (at this moment in time) to 8mm and my other is only 3-4 mm. but if i had a girl i would let her have her bellybutton pierced and maybe the top of her ear at the age of 13 or 14..... but thats only because other girls like to have it done at that age and i would not like my daughter to feel left out and be picked on. But i would not like my kids to follow a hurd i want them to make their own decisions....
i nam 11 and i have my belly picered i think that at 11 or older u should be allowed any picereings
I have three daughters, I had all thier ears peirced at 5 months old, as soon as thier first three vactinations were completed. Theres nothing wrong with it, it looks pretty and it only hurts for a minute ( just like an injection) Its better to get it out of the way when they are babies because at 5 months they are too young to pull at them like a toddler would, and by the time they realise they have earrings they take no notice of them and leave them alone. Plus if you wait til they are older they are scared its going to hurt, and they also mess around with them when they need to be left alone to heal. Babies ear peircings heal very quickly because they are clean and untouched.
Body piercing is different, ie: belly button, lip, tongue etc. They should not be done until over 16, but ear piercing is normal and babies look cute with thier litle earrings in!
vonNIE, my 7 year old can talk about nothing else, other than having her ears pierced.
i have said no, but she is a Hannah Montana fan, and of course she has earrings, so it is very hard!
is your daughter doing well looking after them?
i hate to see youg children and babies with peircings and earrings . i have had many an argument with my daughter about this, she is 9 now and recently had her ears peirced and i feel she is old enough to clean them and deal with changing them etc ...sadly now she wants her navel (belly button)peirecd but i am adamant that she will be at least 16 before she has it done .
