According to research, less than one in a hundred mothers take the advice to breastfeed their child exclusively for the first six months. Do you breastfeed your child? How long did you feed your baby with breast milk before opting for the bottle? What are your reasons for your choices?

Oh, I see your silly little message has gone now. Maybe the adults can get back to their discussion.
Me from here:
How terrible I should talk about breasts and breastfeeding on a board about breasts and breastfeeding! What's your problem?!
i tried to breastfeed my baby, but i found it very difficult due to having an emergency c-section, so i agree with faye, as she is right, not all women can breastfeed!
Boob from Boobland:
No, not all women can breastfeed. I couldn't latch my DD on. Nor could 4 midwives, the breastfeeding councillor, my mum or the paediatricians. I was in hospital for 4 days following her birth trying to get her to feed. To use the word devastated here is not an exaggeration and I believed I had failed my daughter for months which led to quite severe postnatal depression.
I expressed exclusively for a few weeks so she received some of my milk but this was nowhere as near as I wanted to feed her for. In the end I had no choice but to bottlefeed as I was expressing no more than 2oz every 4 hours for a 12lb baby and she was constantly hungry. I was very upset, felt I had failed and found myself justifying myself to everyone every time I bottlefed in public.
I would have given everything to suffered with cracked nipples, mastitis and all the other probs mums get when feeding. Instead I was left feeling inadequate and a complete failure as a mum.
Please don't assume that all mums can feed.
I would if I could. Regretfully, I am not female.
