Modern Warfare 2, the follow up to Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, is already destined to be one of the biggest game releases of all time when it hits stores in November 2009. What do you make of the latest improvements and glimpses of the game from the clips and trailers? What are you most excited about?
I have it for ps3 its alsome Captin price comes back as well in the gulag mision in act2 multiplayer is wikked comies take the war to U.S.A. NO NAZI ZOMBIES SOZ FANS.
I need more tissues
cod5 is better theyve tryed to make it to advanced like deathstreaks and martydom only works after 4 deaths and the guns are to powerful you just die straight away
**SPOILER**
To people complaining about the airport level - it is an important part of the game.
Whilst being crucial to understanding and developing the storyline, it helps to make you resent Makarov as a real, cold person and further distance yourself from him, making you as a person more determined to finish the game and kill the b**tard - yes it was horrifying but you are not forced to shoot the civilians (I personally played the whole first section of the level without firing a shot). But don't forget Modern Warfare 2 is an 18 for a REASon.
The option to skip the level is given when you OPEN UP THE GAME - if you decided to play it anyway then don't complain because you made the choice to.
The level addresses current problems and issues and although it was full on, it wasn't at all in bad taste; why is it as soon as somebody somewhere is brave enough to stand forward and address a common fear or issue they are accused of being in bad taste and doing wrong?
You can even skip the level via the pause menu mid-game if you decide you don't want to see anymore. Although most people will anyway even if out of morbid curiosity.
I think that the game was ALMOST perfect - the multiplayer in particular has set a new standard of online gaming and I feel that nothing will please me as much at least until Modern Warfare 3 (come on, the ending of MW2 was BLATANTLY setting up a sequel).
The only things that disappointed me were the length of the Campaign - I finished it in 4 hrs and 57 minutes, and I didn't even particularly rush through it. Despite the fact Infinity Ward said they were aiming to push the game length past the 6-10 hour mark of previous games they haven't followed this through at all.
What made me gain some respect for Treyarch with WAW was that Infinity Ward made the absolutely ridiculous decision to leave co-op Campaign out of MW2! Why?! They asked their fans what they wanted and almost everyone agreed on co-op Campaign, they knew exactly what was wanted so why on Earth leave it out? As great as Spec-ops mode is, I feel as if they're trying to compensate for no co-op Campaign by putting co-op in Spec-ops; sorry Infinity Ward, it just doesn't quite float my boat.
I also wish there was a special game mode unlocked by finishing the game (like Nazi Zombies in WAW) - there were rumours circulating of 'Alien Terrorist mode' but sadly this isn't the case. In MW2 there also doesn't appear to be any rewards from finding the Intel asides from Achievements/Trophies.
I think the game is incredibly overall and has definately raised the bar for games to come - whilst there were some things that were slightly disappointing, I would give it 8/10 overall - not 9, because I felt that leaving out co-op Campaign was a very, very foolish move to make.
The levels that are set in Washington in particular are very emotional and connect with the player in a personal level; in particular, the start of the level with the Astronaut and space station, then the power loss and helicopters falling out of the sky - this scene was touching and Cpl. Dunn's dialogue when fleeing across the street really helped to set the mood; I was actually almost crying when I played this part of the game.
Pros: increased NPC numbers (campaign), MASSIVELY upgraded mutliplayer capability, brilliant graphics, fast-paced adrenaline fuled gameplay, emotive, good storyline, consistent play, stats tracker of progress throughout Spec-ops Campaign and multiplayer, and a brilliant new game mode 'Spec-ops' with lots of scenario sub-missions
Cons: no extra mode for finishing the game, no co-op Campaign, the Riot Shield is actually quite useless online, short Campaign mode, more gore/brutality (although that could be a Pro if you like that sort of thing), and how corny was the finalé with the knife?!
Overall: Amazing game with some stunning new features, although hardcore Call of Duty players may find a minority of things slightly disappointing - but WELL worth buying. 8/10
Disapointing....yes excellent graphics, good story line and plenty of action but.....SHORT. I normally take my time with games, at least get a good few long weekends playing out of it and I'd thought I'd taken my time as much as I could here but 7Hrs (over 4 days) later, it's done, finished. You cannot do this with this game. You are constantly 'forced' to push forward as quickly as possible, missing a lot of other action around you, no time to admire the locations and excellent graphics, no time to look for alternative routes.
The AI isn't what I'd call 'amazing'. Team members constantly getting in your line of fire, leading you into 'suicide' missions, can't hear the in game instructions because of the loud background music.
I could go on but I'm just so disapointed I can't even be bothered, sorry wasn't impressed at all, not what I have come to expect from such a good software developer.
