While gaming may have been accepted as a sport, with various tournaments held worldwide every year, can the wide variety of original styles and designs be considered as art?
To help you decide, read The Art of Video Games and take a look at the Gaming Art Gallery.
Then tell us what you think below!
Many films, pictures and animated films are considered art. Most games are filled with films (cutscenes), pictures (screenshots) and animated films, so yes, they should be classed as at. Also, the rubbish classed as art today (I remember a story of a piece of 'art' made entirely out of excrement) hardly ever looks as stunning or as beautiful as what game makes can make their games look like.
I wouldent be paying over 400 pound on a graphics card for my pc if it was not art
The Louvre should have a video games gallery. If you say they're not art, then you're half mad, half insane.
I JUST WANT TO KNOW .. WHEN DID AGATHA CHRISTIE BECOME "ARRGATHA"CHRISTIE AS DESCRIBED IN THE TRAILER FOT THE DEATH ON THE NILE GAME.....???
If you consider film-making to be an art, then modern computer gaming is DEFINATELY art. Recent games such as Farenheit, tried to explore this idea more fully and games like the Max Payne series, Gun and even the modern Zelda games have all had the appearance and direction of a film.
Art is there to challenge us and make us think deeply about the world around us and I think that modern, story-driven computer games do just that.
