Are video games art?

    It really depends on the video games. But there is a lot of art involved with each game that is made. I would argue that all video games are art, while some are better peices of art than others, or some have more artistic value or input than others. Anything made by a craftsman can be called art, and video games are not an exception.

    To me games are art. the amount of work/time that goes into turning an idea into a graphically interesting game is far longer than most typical works of art.
    There are some games out there with almost film-like graphics, how can such detail not be seen as art.

    Sure games are art. I wonder how many copies the average game sells. Even completed games are so good they get played time and a again. I respect the makers of video games better than lets say Movie and Music Stars. I would like to be able to shows on the radio discussing Pc games especially for when I'm driving, that would be cool.
