What's your top driving game?

Driving games are back on track in 2009 with a host of impressive new titles adding new life and innovation to a genre that looked to be running on empty. But which are your favourite racing games of this year and how do they compare to your all-time favourites?

Any of the Gran Turismo series could have been the best IF the AI was better, since when do you crash into the back of an opponent before overtaking?? So for me Forza pips it for me, in looks and realism. Smash Hit ! ! ! !

As an almost 40 year old gamer, I've seen my share of driving games on a huge range of platforms. Starting at VIC 20, C64, Amiga then Gamecube, PC, Xbox.. etc.. Of all the driving games, on all the various platforms over the years, my absolute number one would be Carmaegeddon ((with blood patch) on a celeron 466mhz with 96MB RAM, and a 3DFX graphics card) just because it was such a laugh to play.. Some of the games out now look fab, have great physics engines with accurate damage models and better AI opponents that bear a grudge, but they still leave me cold... If I had to vote on accuracy as well as fun, I think I'd have to go for TOCA 2 onwards (on a good spec PC with Force Feedback wheel). :-)
