Blonde-bombshell politician Boris Johnson last month blasted computer games as "narcotic for children" and stating that they "rot our children's brains".
Do you agree with Shadow Minister for Higher Education? Or are they comments made upon a subject which he perhaps has little or no knowledge? Has the Nintendo Wii strengthened the argument for games improving co-ordination and problem solving?
If kids don't play console games what other choices are there?
Cannot play in street, too much traffic.
Cannot play on any patch of grass as someone always chases them off or have "NO BALL GAMES PERMITED" signs
How about the parks?
We have two nearby but both are covered with dog muck (such caring owners)
so where do they play ?
Yes games are bad for everything! If only life was a bit fairer outside it would be more encouraging (not wanting to be a namsy pamsy Lib!). Places being over populated, we're surrounded by misery as well as good fun, fast roads, long unsocialble working hours so parents can't find time to whatch over the youngs'uns, the list goes on and on. What is good though is that dudes like me who don't want kids and wife and all that are actually the most enviromental people on earth by not BREEDING! Ah' another masterpiece I really do amaze myself at times.
As each new piece of technology arrived have we not heard this sort of clap before? I am sure I remember the same sort of knee jerk comments being made when walkmans first came out (yes I am that old!!)and my parents remember people making similar comments about TV. I have great fun playing games with my son on his games console or playing on line on the opposite team trying to beat him at whatever game we play. Like anything if it is monitored and controlled by the parents then there is no reason why they should not actualy form part of a normal healthy lifestyle. And yes we do encourage him to take part in other activities, which he happily does. The problem once again is limited to a minority, the minority who choose to use computer games as baby sitting device because they cannot be bothered.
yes i think computers and game consoles are bad for children and I think that they should be limited.
I have a three year old grandson and he always played games, on the computer as well as on his brothers game cosole. But now however we have had to put a stop to it as most of the games are about killing and his favourate words were im gonna kill you nana. Dont wanna come up against that when he gets older now do i?
Computer games....have been around for years..i remember my first hand held space invaders game.If kids are staying home playing there computers.....who are these kids on the street? that are (drinking, doing crime, taking drugs, shooting and hurting other kids..starting up a GANG.....extra. (THATS WHAT THEY DO IN THERE FREE TIME)....but silly me, there parents can watch them 24-7 and know for sure that there not doing these things!
