Should Britain invest in nuclear power?
Government today gave the go-ahead to a new raft of nuclear power stations. With our increasing reliance on expensive imported energy and commitment to reducing carbon emissions, is nuclear the way forward? Or do you think it is too dangerous and environmentally unsound? Should we concentrate on energy efficiency and renewable sources rather than building new power stations? Have your say.

Nuclear power is the only possible energy source that could satisfy our growing demands. It is safe, it is very clean and holds a record of harming the health of far less people over the decades than coal or other fossil burning generators.

The uk is surrounded by the sea with strong currents, surely this energy could be tapped if we had investment from the government. Perhaps not, they only seem interested in nuclear power!

I like the idea of working out what we will do with the waste first. Instead of sending it to the moon, perhaps we could incinerate it in the sun. Of course, we would need a contingency plan, just in case we inadvertently cause the sun to go out.
