Government today gave the go-ahead to a new raft of nuclear power stations. With our increasing reliance on expensive imported energy and commitment to reducing carbon emissions, is nuclear the way forward? Or do you think it is too dangerous and environmentally unsound? Should we concentrate on energy efficiency and renewable sources rather than building new power stations? Have your say.
Ahh its the hypocrite who supports fox hunting and yet votes for a ban on the MYTHICAL dangerou breeds of dogs :S Me from Here do sort out your thoughts they are quite silly. This country needs Nuclear Power. The uS has had it for years and no one suffers because of it there. Your a scare mongerer plain and simple. Anti Iraq war (speaking as a serviceman i can say it was 110% neccesary as is Afghanistan).
but only once we have figured out a way to dispose of the nuclear waste, anybody know how long it takes uranium to to rot away to nothing, how about 250,000 years, so with a nuclear power station the fuel rods will still be active for the next 1/4 million years, want some in your back garden, well it will be so soon enough, because just how long before we run out of room to store them.
SORRY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN THE ANSWER AS "YES"
Pip from washington.
Re Electricity.
Listening to a programme on the TV.
The ELECTRICITY THAT WE SAVE IN THE SUMMERTIME IS SENT TO FRANCE.
THEN COME WINTER WE HAVE TO BUY IT BACK FROM FRANCE , WE HAVE TO PAY MORE THAN WE BOUGHT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Sounds crazy but perfectly true aas stated.
If we do not have nuclear power, this country will be on its knees.
We are reducing the armed forces and left right and centre.
And we shall soon find ourselves in the same mess we were in in 1939.
Sold everything to Germany, as friends.
Yes we do need the nuclear power stations.
For survival.
yes we sould have nuclear power. if we should not have it, then britain cannot import electricity from france where it's made from the split atom. I don't hear greenpeace or friends of the earth saying that though - wonder why?
