Government today gave the go-ahead to a new raft of nuclear power stations. With our increasing reliance on expensive imported energy and commitment to reducing carbon emissions, is nuclear the way forward? Or do you think it is too dangerous and environmentally unsound? Should we concentrate on energy efficiency and renewable sources rather than building new power stations? Have your say.
I am a bit scared of nuclear power, look what happened in russia. there must be some other way.
A further thought - if French nuclear technology were not totally safe, we would have kissed goodbye to most of our South coast population, depending upon prevailing winds. Of course, the French always decide things upon what is good for France, and do not yield to blackmail by idiots and Far Leftists 'marching' and 'protesting'.

But for the idiots and troublemakers of CND - typified by Michael Foot, the Kinnocks etc, Britain would have ample clean, extremely safe nuclear power by now, the same as France
one of the things that got this lying bunch of idiots into power was a promise NOT to build nuclear power stations and to concentrate on renewables. Then they did just about nothing for 10 years, suddenly woke up to the fact that we were running out of energy and then went for nuclear, just as if they had not planned that all along..
Dangerous, creepy stuff.with a potential for disaster on an unbelievable scale. And the world is running out of uranium.
