Did you use Netscape Navigator in its heyday in the 1990s? Are you surprised that AOL is ditching it? Do you feel that Microsoft was guilty of unfair competition with Internet Explorer during the browser wars? Let us know.
Yes I remember Netscape and used to prefer it to the earlier versions of IE which were slow and riddled with bugs. IE however eventually caught up and became the standard.
For a while I did use Opera as a browser which was quick and a very small application to install (ideal for laptops) until addtional functionality was added which made the application bigger and slower.
These days I tend to use IE on my Windows PC and Firefox with Linux.
Totally agree with Ryan's comments, used it loads at university on Unix systems (back in the day when they were the daddies of speed for the super highway). RIP netscape
Never used it, and never will now. I've use IE from the very start, and haven't had a single problem. I don't know what all the fuss is about. We are talking about technology, it moves on, that's why it's technology.
Netscape killed itself. You have to stay ahead of the competition and unfortunately, Netscape didn't. There is always going to be something better, whether that be a better mobile phone or a browser. Either way, as time progesses, something better will always crop up. To the IE haters, you should think about how and why IE has became one of the top browsers, dominating the browsing market... it's not Microsoft's fault, it's the people who use it.. if a company releases a product and no one uses it, then the company will discontinue it. I feel Microsoft has EVERY right to put whatever program they want into Windows, after all, it's them who create Windows so it's them who choose what browser is supplied with it.
You can't ask a car maker to stop shipping their cars with tyres because Kwik Fit's tyres arent selling, it's upto the End users choice whether they use IE or change browser, not Microsoft's.
You IE haters make me laugh!
Every browzer commercially available today is just as vulnerable to exploits as IE is!
In fact IE has its security definitions updated far more than any other browzer!
Speed issuies ? forum after forum test after test, all browzers pretty much run at the same speed!
As far as nostalga goes then sure i'll be sad to see Netscape go! but for no other reason!
IE will remain No1!
peace
