Is obesity contagious?

Is obesity contagious?

A recent study has concluded that obesity may be spreading socially through friends and family. Researchers claim that friends of obese people are 57% more likely to become obese themselves.

What do you think? Is it possible for obesity to spread in this way?

No its a life choice you lift that hand to your mouth you put in that chocolate.People who call obesity a disease are kiding themselves. Its simple if more calories are used than eaten you lose weight. If more calories are consumed than the body needs to use you get fat.Exercise more eat less job done.

All junk food and junk food outlets (that means McDonalds et all) should be banned.

Caz from Midlands....it is just possible that your chubby daughter is a throw back from a previous generation. Possibly one of your (or your husbands') grandparents or great grandparents had a weight problem.
Either way, she has my sympathy.
My eldest brother is 6ft and quite slim (my mothers' family) whereas l am 5ft 2in and "not slim" as l take after my fathers' side.
l am sure you give her all the support you can and treat all your girls the same.....not much more you can do but love her.

I have had 5 daughters, all fed exactly the same, all slim except one, she is not greedy, she is fit and helathy but twice the size of her sisters, no-one has the answer to why she should be different, but people are all too ready to judge her. She has been turned down for jobs because of this, called names in the street by total strangers and doctors just tell her to eat less, if anyone has the answer to this I would be forever grateful, my heart bleeds for her.
