At current consumption levels petrol will run out by 2039 and if the industrialisation of China and India continues at the current rate it will run out even faster. Are we heading to a global energy crisis?
We are oaps living in a village with no gas,we have just had our winter oil delivered -the only way to heat our home,if we are very careful with baths etc it may last the winter months-just. It has cost £492 our pension is £585 a month.perhaps we should hope not to last the winter?
I write this on my solar powered lap top. It cost me £500 to make my own solar power station. It comes in three parts; 1, the solar panel £400; 2, the power regulator (built it for a ten quid, buy it in the shops £80); 3, Leasure battery (not car battery the bits inside are built differently, same stuff though) £110. So there you have it I am off the grid. It will take 20 to 30 years to pay for itself without the battery (the battery will need replacement in 5 - 8 years time. The computer is my the telly as well as a radio (via Internet and USB adaptors)
So workable alternative energy is very expensive. I needed the kit to go camping, so had the stuff stored. Then I thought why not use it and cut some of the electricity bill.
If you don't belive the expense try a Google search for "Solar power and PV panels". Then look at the price of the power regulators. Then look at power storage (batteries used at night, charged in the day) the price is around £1 per amp-hour of storage, so 110 amp-hour cost me £110 at the caravan place.
Q. Another point is how do you regulate the carbon foot print of the public?
A. Price them out of the market! (sorry OAPs have a limited winter fuel allowance).
whoever says we need oil to live is an idiot, if you do your research you will find out that there are energy sources which we could use, yet aren't going to because the oil companies want to create more money until they can go no further, allow the population to believe that oil is what we need, that global warming is caused by us, of which there is no conscensus on. this is just my opinion though, research it yourself, Zero Point Energy (ZPE).
yes we are, oil is comodity and long before it runs out it's cost will be beyond most of the world population. people are going on about the cost of petrol it's been going up for decades and will continue too.
people still buy daft cars rufuse to insulate their lofts, etc then the nimby dont want wind turbines, neuclear reactors, the severn barrier etc etc yep were running head on into an energy crisis it serves us right we can use a lot less energy if we want, I do!
Well even if there is suddenly a massive contest for oil, Britain will do Okay. Besides Russia, Britain has the most un-disturbed fuel source in the world. Our coal mines will keep us running for around 250 years after the last of the oil is gone. And Russia has oil-refinerys in Siberia and around Leningrad that have not been disturbed for over 40 years. It is the largest consumer of oil in the world - America, that will suffer.
