Are we heading towards a global energy crisis?

At current consumption levels petrol will run out by 2039 and if the industrialisation of China and India continues at the current rate it will run out even faster. Are we heading to a global energy crisis?

We will run out of fosil fuels in the future. If we use solar/wind/hydrogen energy then we will not have to rely on burning fuels to produce the energy we consume. The technology will soon be available to produce light and heat by using much less energy. Transport will be more energy efficient and cheaper also.

Well simple make cars and other vehicals run on chip fat or water or electric! it's not our fault we have to fill our cars with petrol and yes i have a 4x4 but that's not the problem so don't say it is! it's the guzzling planes and other stuff

did everyone know that for the same cost as a nuke plant, we could have a solar collector in space that could convert sunlight to microwaves that come back to earth and used as electricity? the plant last longer that nuke and the only danger is flying into the beam.. as i understand it.. it dont even damage the ozone layer...

There is perhaps no such thing as an energy crises, just an ideas shortage. More solar energy arrives on our planet in one second for free than we require in a year. We just need new engineers & scientists to work out how to do it cleanly and economically, and then the political / social will to apply it.

A Hydrogen economy is the only way ahead. It can be made from water and the energy required to make it can be obtained from the wind. The gas can be used to generate electricy, power planes, cars, even rockets - anything you want. It is inflammable but then so is petrol. Hydrogen production & burning involves no CO2 or any greenhouse gas. The answer is already here.

ahh some common sense, we wont ever run out, fuel, oil etc is a comodity the more scarse it becomes the more costly it will become, that will effect the whole world starting with the poorest, in the end the richest nations will squable over whats left, they have already started. The countries that are sensible will persue energy effientcy and renewable energy and reduce the demand on raw materials by increasing recycling, this will take time to put in place, we need to get on with it soon..now.
