Will the Bali climate summit achieve anything?

Will the Bali climate summit achieve anything?

Talks in Bali between countries from all over the world have been struggling to agree on a plan to cut emissions, with the US reportedly unhappy signing up to strict targets. Do you think the summit will achieve anything positive? Does the attitude of the US make you angry? Or are the talks a pointless exercise in the fight against global warming?

It showed us once again that its them and us!
The politicians and rich celebrities (read actors/pop-rock stars)can feel great about going all the way to Bali to discuss this in a world of electronics and video conferencing -I assume by air-or do they have the teleport system now??
However, the gov wants to tax the usual suspects (us hardworking normal people) if we want to holiday outside of this expensive and generally cold/wet and use a plane to get there!!

Do politicians ever achieve anything apart from feathering their own nest?

The biggest thing the summit achieved was a holiday for a lot of blethering polititions and the hot air and jet emissions they caused probably done more harm than good.

Oh, yes. The Bali conference will achieve a great deal. It will cause a lot more energy to be used in communication. It will cause a lot more paper to be used in in dumb reports, adverts, letters, etc. Just imagine the vastly increased exhaust emissions created by those travelling to the conference, on both sides of the debate.
YES. BALI WILL HAVE A HUGE IMPACT on THE PLANET - AND NonE OF IT OF ANY VALUE TO ANYonE.
Most of us, without access to the mass media, have long since learned not to believe the utter twaddle that comes from such gatherings of the so called leaders of the world.
