Is a target to cut carbon emissions by 60% by 2050 enough?

Is a target to cut carbon emissions by 60% by 2050 enough?

The proposed Climate Change Bill is the first of its kind in any country and according to Environment Secretary David Miliband, Britain is "leading by example".

Much of the Bill focuses on domestic buildings which account for 25% of UK emissions as opposed to aviation which only accounts for 5%.

What do you think of the Bill? Does it go far enough? Should we provide annual rather than five-year targets?

My opinion is that the earth warming up is a natural thing and has been going on for millions and millions of years.Humans have been around for roughly 40,000 years. Our industrial age started started roughly around late 1800 to early 1900.So in the last 100 odd years we have done all this damage to our planet.i think its just an excuse especially in the UK to tax us all to death.I dont see other countries worrying too much about it.America said it would have an huge effect on their economy so they are not botherd. As far as sizes go britain is a very small island and our problem is a government that rips us off at every turn to fill their own pockets.Another point is the dinosaures were around for 350 million years and over that time the world heated up and cooled down god knows how meny times.Did they pollute, yes with their waste products over a long long time and we are being told by our politicians we have have to do something about global pollution and we have only been on this planet a micro second in respect of how long the actual earth has been here.I say its a natural thing not man made.

Sorry to say but i think it's all to do with major company's & governments when they all ready know how to make car's run on cold tap water & can produce 75% of the globe's electric supply with out making any pollution + without having to burn any fuels & making it cheaper to produce so making it cheaper for the consumer

If our goverment really was worried about these proposed carbon plans they would stop all the big polluting countrys like China, USA etc importing goods into the uk and taking our jobs away.

i think ken livingstones plans for an emmission tax is unworkable. it is already part of the mot so why would i want to pay more money to take an old vehicle into london when the governmnent already says its clean enough to run on the roads. nice try ken. what is it? not enought revenue from the traffic wardens and congestion charge already?
