Does the universe have a purpose?

Are we cogs in a vast machine that performs some specific function? Is the universe the result of a random sequence of events or part of a grand scheme? What do YOU think?

It began with the "Big Bang" without the help of any supernatural assistance & everything, matter,anti-matter , dark energy & a host of other unknowns are all nuclear waste from that event,including us.
There is NO grand scheme,or plan,just a constant process of natural generation & recycling of energy & matter over countless aeons of time.
