A legend and a gentleman. Very sad to hear the passing of an inspiration to millions all over the world. His like are very few and far between, and will remembered in the hearts of many people far and wide. God bless and thanks for a lifetime of dedication to science.
A sad loss.. he introduced me to Science Fiction as a child.
A man with a great imagination - light years ahead of his time.
Now he is at peace, and will remain forever, part of the cosmos, which he loved.
islands in the sky was the first book that i read by arthur c clarke, and since then too many to list.
his death is a great sadness
i dont think that anyone could fill his shoes today creating sci-fi and his work of scientific fact he was a true artisan.
A sad loss to scientific and science fiction world I don't think we shall ever see his like again I also would like to think that maybe they will repeat The Mysterious World series again although I am not in favour of repeats on TV but this would be worth watching again.
The first science fiction book I read was 'A fall of Moondust' when I was 9 yrs old. Last month(forty years later) I read 'Rendezvous with Rama' for the first time - and for a book where nothing happens very fast, there's a whole lot going on and a whole host of subtle parallels - maybe I'll go back and read 'A fall of Moondust' again to see what my nine year old brain may have missed. Cheers Arthur C.
