What do you think of Vista?

What do you think of Vista?

You are, of course, first in line to install Vista on your PC. Is it fun and easy to use, or another Microsoft product that falls short of the hype?

Vista seems to be more stable than XP - all my new computers run on Vista and I have had no problems, but XP used to crash on a regular basis. However, whilst Microsoft have apparently taken care to sort out the stability and business software compatability problems out, there seems to have been a lack of concern to ensure compatibility with PC games. Many of the PC games out there are compatible only with XP - so if you have Vista and you want to buy a game for your computer make sure it says explicitly on the case that it will work with the Vista platform - if it says just XP then it is a very hit and miss affair whether it will work, and not all games manufacturers produce patches to make the XP games still on the shelves Vista compatible. As for compatibility with older games designed for use with Microsoft 96, 98 or 2000, forget it - you might love the games you bought during the period these operating systems were current as much as you like, but you might as well just chuck 'em away because the odds of them working with Vista are virtually zero.
All in all, as a business user I'm happy with Vista, but as a gamer I'm very fed up. If you're reading this, Microsoft, have a little consideration for non-business users next time please, thanks.

I use windows 2000 because its compatible with the programmes that I use. I also have Linux Ubuntu in a caddy, its a far superior OS but I cant get a printer driver for my new Canon MP470 printer otherwise I would ditch windows altogether.
