A new planet has been discovered circling a distant star 20 light years from Earth. The mean surface temperature is estimated to be between 0 and 40 degrees which could point to the presence of liquid water or indeed oceans.
Scientists believe conditions there may be right to support life. As yet the International Astronomical Union is only referring to it as Gliese 581c, but let's face it, that doesn't have much of a ring to it. What should it be called? Does it matter? Will we ever go there? Have your say!
I fully agree with MIKE from London. Its also true of all the indigneous people of the earth............. they became pushed out.
Can you imagine US colonising a planet......... taking their children off them............. placing them into 'boarding schools'............... make them speak a different language........taking away their identity........... forcing upon them 'other' traditions and values......... etc. etc etc.....................!!!! Till not a trace of their existance is even remembered. I THINK NOT.
The planet looks beautiful, calm and peaceful. Let's leave it that way. one day when man has learned to accept his own kind, propulsion at the blink of an eye; and let's face it, we would have to be able to travel that fast, may be opened up to us. Fantasy thinking you may say. It was only 50 years ago that it was thought imposible to walk on the moon.
Why don't they point Hubble to Mars and zoom in on the planet to show us what it is really like.?........!!!! They only show us the barren rocky deserts. Personly I don't think its ALL like that.
If they ever did reach this 'new planet', the general public wouldn't be told the 'truth' anyway. THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE. lol.
A new name for the planet......... VERITY
This world is what you got so deal with it. Bunch of pussy cats thinking of leggin' it. Grow up.
Lets hope we dont make the same mistakes on the new planet as we have on Mother Earth.
No Human rights charter and No PC brigade!!!.
The new planet should be called: Suske and Wiske
