Should hospitals ban mobile phones?

Should hospitals ban mobile phones?

For over 10 years, hospitals have had a ban on the use of mobile phones in any building saying that they can interfere with medical equipment and place patients' health at risk.
However recent reports state that the ban need only remain where specialist equipment is used such as intensive care.

If the ban was to be lifted, would you welcome the change? Have you had to spend time in hospital and not been able to talk to loved ones? Have you had a bedside phone and been charged extortionate rates for using it?

Or do you think that morons shouting on phones perpetuates nearly every part of society and it's good to have some peace and quiet somewhere at last? Have your say.

Why are any mobiles allowed on wards anyway. Not only can they distract staff, but patients also run the risk of being filmed when they are at their most vulnerable.
only last week I went to visit my nanna in hospital and saw a youth messing about with his phone and making everyone on the ward extremely uncomfortable.
Hospitals are just not a place for such gadgets.

I read somewhere recently that the only reason you aren't allowed to use mobiles in hospitals is because of the company that provides the phones in the rooms made them sign a contract to stop people using their mobiles, so more people pay those outrageous prices for the cards?

on the 13 november 2006, i had right to left arterial crossover, because of complications with my heart and breathing , my operation wascarried out by epidural, so i was awake during the whole operation, the operation took 4 and a half hours, during this time i heared five mobile phones, each and every one was answered, when i returned to the ward , i phoned my wife to let her know i was out and ok, a nurse came over to me and said, very bluntly that mobile phones were not allowed on the ward, as she walked away, well you will never guess what happend, phone only started ringing red was the colour for the rest of the day and nothing was ever mentioned about mobile phones again,

do we need tv ,do we need laptops,do we need cars,do we need electricity, the more demand. the more people want so of course we do need to be in touch even in hospital with our mobile.
